В статье рассмотрены особенности социально-экономического развития северо-западных волостей Феодосийского уезда во второй половине XIX — начале XX вв. Уделено внимание общественным учреждениям, которые находились на их территории. Показаны административные изменения, происходившие в регионе в этот период.

North-western Volosts of Feodosia Uyezd (District) in the Second Half of the 19th — Early 20th Centuries: Administrative Changes and Socio-economic Realities

Feodosia Uezd (District) was administrative-territorial unit of Taurida Governorate. Thus, study of its historical development in the second half of the 19th (after Alexander II’s Great Reforms) — early 20th cc. is useful for further researches concerning Great Reforms and their consequences. The northwest region of Feodosia Uezd (District) consisted of Sheykh-Monakhskaya (later Andreevskaya) and Zürichtal volosts.
The subject of my research is socio-economic state of inhabitants of North-Western part of Feodosia Uezd in the second half of the 19th and early20th cc. For this purpose, I use source and sociological analysis, as well as narrative method (for describing events took place in Uezd). Also I use historical genetic method for establishing the cause-and-effect relations of the events and processes of those times.
I paid special attention to some significant events in the history of the northwest settlements of Feodosia Uezd (District) and observed the decrees about renaming some of them.
In studying, I distinguished the following distinctive features of the regional development. Grain growing was the main occupation of the inhabitants (country-folk). Metayage system (a form of farming land, in which one cultivates land for a share of its yield, usually receiving stock, tools, and seed from the landlord) became the general type of rent in the agricultural industry. Representatives of different settlements took part in the meetings of Feodosia Uezd (District) Zemsky Assembly.
I came to the conclusion that the northwest settlements of Feodosia district had an administrative relation to two volosts. Their inhabitants referred to different nations. The development of capitalist relations influenced the institution the main aim of which was giving credits for running the agriculture. Thus, in the early 1900’s, Andreevsky Credit Association was established, and this fact was beneficial in small credits development. In turn, due to the educational system development, prosperity came to primary schools and four-graded women college in Okrech Village. Ichki rural medical district extended to the several volosts of the Feodosia Uezd.
